About

Jessica is the result of her parents' attempts at playing God and trying to create enhanced humans with, of all things, spider DNA. While the reason she came to be the only successful subject was a bit of a fluke, her parents' research attracted the attention of HYDRA, and they further funded their experiments and research with the hopes of reaping the fruits of their success.

And in a sense, they did. After the death of her parents, HYDRA took hold of most of their research, even if they could never fully replicate it or make it a success, but they ended with her - the only successful subject of their research.

One or two heavy indoctrinations later, she ended as another prized weapon for them that worked under the name 'Arachne' before breaking out of their control and trying to find a semblance of a new life, and trying to make up for all the stuff she did under their command.

Appearance

She is what one will consider an attractive woman, with a decent height standing at 5'6"ft. With clear and scarless skin to show despite the rough life she has led and green eyes inherited from her mother. Naturally a blonde, and the color she had during her time with HYDRA, she has dyed her hair dark and kept it that way since she left the organization.

Her build is athletic and svelte, and while she might not look like it, she is not weak and will most certainly kick about anyone's asses if needed. Jessica was trained as a spy, an assassin, and in physical combat, and she is DAMN good at what she was trained to do.

Abilities

Martial Artist

Highly experienced fighter and hand to hand combatant; trained in armed and unarmed combat as an assassin, she uses a mix of methods utilized in Karate, Boxing, Capoeira, Judo and sword fighting (fencing).

Skilled Spy

Extensively trained in espionage, stealth artist, information gathering and covert operations. When she left HYDRA, she managed to hack most of their main systems and delete all files and information about herself.

Skilled Acrobat

She is a superb athlete and an Olympic-level gymnast.

Multilingual

Fluency in several languages including Russian, Japanese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean and German.

Enhancements

Strength (enabling her to lift about 7 tons), speed, stamina, durability/endurance, agility, reflexes, flexibility, and hearing.

Mental

Able to resist telepath attacks (she managed to keep Charles Xavier from delving too deep into her mind), she has several mental shields in place and has a near-eidetic memory since she was able to remember details of her past, parents, and the place they lived despite how young she lost all of that. Not to mention the names and status of nearly everyone involved her into making her who she was.

Contaminant Immunity

Her body metabolism can adapt and quickly creates a powerful and permanent immunity to toxins, poisons, and any drugs after initial exposure. To her bad luck, this also includes medications, and alcohol.

Immunity to radiation

Due to what happened when she was a child and the use of the serum, she is immune to radiation, its effects, and radiation poisoning.

Acelerated healing

She does heal faster than a normal human, while not in the level as individuals like Wolverine or Deadpool, depending on the wound she can heal faster. Small things like bruises and marks can take minutes, stab or gunshot wounds can take hours, and more extensive damage, like something surgical, can take a couple of days. Hence the reason she has no scars to show off.

Aging process & enhanced life span

The combination of her situation and her time on the generator, her aging process after she reached a certain point of maturity was affected in the sense of it being SEVERELY slowed down as biological deteriorations are nearly non-existent in time. And since she has been around since around the 70s and still looks more or less the same, the stasis that slowed her aging also means her lifespan might be longer than the usual standards.

Wall-Crawling

Her limbs can adhere to walls via the bio-electric attraction, and she’s also able to carry a high amount of extra weight without having her balance impaired or any danger of falling off.

Venom Blasts

Her body possesses an excessive amount of bio-electricity that she has learned to channel and discharge through her hands in controlled bursts. These energy projections vary in power; they affect the nervous system in humans. She is able to regulate them from simply a stunning move to making them potent enough to kill an average-sized man in the same way that a lightning bolt could.

Pheromone Secretion

Her metabolism generates certain types of pheromones that can create fear and elicit attraction and/or repulsion in others, depending on unknown factors, which might include: gender and mood. At the moment, this ability seems to be dormant.

Self-Propelled Flight

With her suit, she can simulate flight by leaping into the air and ride the air currents, forget about physics here, as this is basically real flight for all intents and purposes.

History

Jessica was born to Jonathan and Miriam Drew in London, United Kingdom. When Miriam was pregnant, she was hit with a laser beam from their research that contained the DNA of several different spiders used in her parents' research. Her parents were not aware Miriam was pregnant until then, and of course, they were justifiably worried. However, when Jessica was born healthy, and without any complications, her parents could breathe in relief knowing that their research hadn’t affected their daughter in any way.

At some point after Jessica was born, HYDRA found out about the Drew’s research and saw it as a viable alternative for their loss of Erskine serum, with HYDRA now financing the project the family moved to Mount Wundagore in Transia to carry on with the research that consisted in the splicing and harnessing of spiders’ environmental adaptive capabilities to then graft them into the human genome. For the next years, the Drew’s continued their research not being aware that HYDRA was financing the whole project and using whatever advance of their serum on human subjects without their knowledge. During that time Jessica was mostly tended to and taken care of by her nanny Nova, not that she didn’t spend time with her parents but most of their time was focused on the research.

Jessica’s third year of life came with a lot of changes in its wake, WWII was looking more and more in favor of the allies, the S.S.R was slowly overcoming Hydra, and her parents discovered the fact that Hydra had been behind their research this whole time while Jessica started to show signs of uranium poisoning, which was slowly killing her. In an attempt to save her life, her parents worked day and night to perfect the serum as best as they could while finding a way to escape Hydra.

By 1949, when Jessica was seven, they succeeded with the creation of a perfect serum and injected Jessica with it before placing her in the Genetic Accelerator they had also created, that according to their theory will help the serum to incubate. They were less successful in their attempts to escape HYDRA and they disappeared leaving Jessica in the hands of HYDRA still interested in her and the project due to being the only successful recipient of the serum, her nanny Nova was led to believe she had “disappeared” alongside her parents.

For the next couple of years, she remained under the care and close watch of HYDRA while she remained in the accelerator, who every once in a while tried to revive her parents' research for the serum and no one really made the connection that it was the interaction of the laser, the serum and the Accelerator that made the whole research work as their parents had managed to destroy certain parts of their works and new researchers tended to forget the incident during her mother's pregnancy. During all that time, Jessica was subjected to several recordings of her parents left behind that started to play at different intervals of time, so HYDRA wouldn't notice, that explained everything to Jessica hoping she could understand.

However, HYDRA realized and wasted no time in replacing them with their own, using some old investigation to be able to bend their mind of a subject to whatever they wanted and to whatever they needed from her. Around the late 1970s near the start of the 80's and with the biological age of thirteen, Jessica came out of the accelerator and in her confusion stunned and killed some guards before escaping, HYDRA managed to locate her less than a month later and brought her back without any memory more than her name, in a state of induced amnesia due to the subliminal mind manipulation she went through much to Otto’s delight, the new person left in charge of the Drew Project, and making her his guinea pig to shape her mind to anything he wanted without needing to go through the unsavory procedure of the mind wipes.

And for a long time it worked, Jessica was everything Otto could hope for, she was loyal and ruthless and did her job, becoming one of HYDRA’s best and most coveted agents under the codename of Arachne and becoming also the lover of Otto. She did her job and didn’t question it for it was what it was, but this regretfully didn’t mean that she still didn’t remember the recordings from her parents and during a mission (a lullaby) triggered her, making her remember all of those inflow of words from her parents and the vague memories of her childhood.

She was confused and dazzled which allowed HYDRA to capture her again, and to Otto’s disdain, it forced him to put her in the chair and wipe her mind since he had no idea what had brought those other sets of memories forth and she refused to tell. After that wipe, she was back to the way she had been to HYDRA and the way Otto liked her to be.

It was during the mission in which she was sent to kill Fury, who had been visiting her surviving nanny Nova wanting to know about the Drews, which rocked all of her beliefs and made her question everything that she had thus far believed in. It also triggered whatever little memories she had of her past before the Genetic Accelerator and she needed to bail out and quick.

She was rather careful in her break out, she returned to HYDRA finding the files of her project and everything that tied it together and how her whole life had been a lie. All the training HYDRA gave her was now used against them, as she managed to get her parents' records and destroy most of their research notes before she was found and was barely able to make her escape, taking the whole base down with her.

Despite that HYDRA believes her to be dead, Jessica still makes sure to watch her step and not draw too much attention to herself, accepting freelance jobs here and there, staying clear from S.H.I.E.L.D and HYDRA, filled with rage with the last one for all the lies and the things they made her do and trying to somehow understand that all the actions done there were not her fault but HYDRA’s influence over her real self but it is easier said than done.
